Published on: 5/25/10 (Updated 5/25/10 3:30PM) The Bruins handed the Mannheim Royals their first loss of the DPL inline season Monday evening in game number three with a 5:4 victory. The Bruins entered the game at a disadvantage having just 7 players against the Royals stacked bench of 10. Bruins defensemen Roy Labbé scored in the first shift of the game giving them the early lead. The Royals answered back with two goals of their own before the period end. Injuries and equipment malfunctions would remove some players from the Bruins bench momentarily during the game, giving the Royals even more of an advantage. The game was neck and neck until the final minutes of the third period, Bruins forward Takahiro Kakumaru found an opening in the slot, burying the game winning goal behind Royals goaltender Marcus Stegmann off a pass from linemate Kevin Schatral who posted a goal and three assists in the game. The Royals were forced to pull their goalie in the final minute but were unable to tie it up. All players fought hard with very few mistakes, including exceptional goaltending at both ends. The Bears next opponent will be the DPL Stars this Sunday, May 30th, 12PM at Freidrichspark. Come support the boys from Baden as they work on extending their winning streak. Bear News |
