Bruins come up short in DPL Pokal 7:4 (1:3,3:1,3:0) |
Published 01/10/2012
HEDDESHEIM -- The Baden Bruins took on the Heddesheim Flames Monday night at the outdoor rink in Heddesheim. The forecast called for rain most of the day but the game would still go on schedule. Both teams hit the ice ready to play. Shortly after the opening face off, the rain also began to drop, and continued to fall the entire first period. Fortunately, the ice would be resurfaced in the first intermission and the rain held off for the rest of the game.
The Bruins would get an early 2 goal lead in the first period, both goals being posted by the Bruins own "Japanese Panther" Taka Kakumaru. Heddesheim's Mark Etz was able to get the ball rolling for the Flames by putting in their first goal of the game a minute later, cutting the Bruins lead in half. Late in the first period, Kevin Schatral's hard work in front of the net would pay off, giving the Bruins a 3:1 lead to end the period. |

Bruins win over KMC Eagles 8:3 |

Published 11/30/2011
VIERNHEIM – The curse has been lifted! It has been three seasons since the Bruins have beaten their Air Force rivals, the KMC Eagles. Since Adam Nyitray joined the team back in 2007, the Bruins have had a difficult time winning over the Eagles. Nyitray had been one of the top players in the DPL since 2007 and a key playmaker for the team.
Prior to the Nyitray era, the Eagles were a good team. With Nyitray, the Eagles became a great team. Then with the help of coach Brian O’Connor, and of course, a handful of key players, to include Air Force Academy player Scott Zwiers and Canadian Kevin “the Chief” Dick, the Eagles became a very strong and talented team.
KMC were not the only team to transition this season. The Bruins picked up a few key player themselves, to include the likes of Sebastian Loch, Jonas Breier, Adam Hendel and Steve Manning. These four players have provided significant offensive capabilities to the current Bruins roster. |
