The Baden Bruins U.S. Army Hockey team enter the 2009/2010 season with lots of energy and passion as they plan to revenge their DPL final loss to the KMC Eagles. This disappointing final has haunted the Bruins all summer long. Their passion was revealed this summer as the Bruins broke through the league ranks in their very first season of DPL Inline hockey. This new comer team shocked the entire league as they finished 3rd in their first season by beating the former DPL Div I champions - DPL Stars.
For the 2009/2010 season, the Bruins have recruited a number of local national players, most of which come from coach Sullivan's second team - the ISC Mannheim inline hockey team. This particular team currently plays in Germany's top Bundesliga Inline League. The remainder of new talent to the Bruins roster this season consist of recently PCSed U.S. Army soldiers and civilians.
The Bruins have found great success and satisfaction with their partnering hosts. The German/American alliance is strong within the organization. Numerous talented German hockey players have worn the Bruins jersey proudly as they complement and synergize the team. The Bruins believe that the best way to build a strong and sustaining program is to ensure that our host partners are an intergral part of the team.
Over the past 9 years, the Bruins have won many league titles and tournaments. For the US soldier however, one title seems to stand above the rest – the USAFE Championships. For the Bruins, this is THE tournament of the year. A chance to represent ARMY as they take on the best that the Air Force and NATO has to offer.
The Bruins captured the title in 2008, but suffered a disappointing 3rd place finish last year. The Bruins were disapointed in their performance last year and look to return the coveted title back to the Bear Den where it belongs .
